This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to provide responsible gambling services, and to assist those customers who have issues with problem gambling.

Responsible gambling services must be provided wherever gambling activities are undertaken. In the hospitality industry, the gambling environment is usually referred to as the gaming area and is provided in a range of venues, such as hotels, motels, clubs, pubs and casinos.

The major forms of gambling are wagering (racing and sport) and gaming (gaming machines, table games, Keno and lotteries). Both forms of gambling are relevant to the hospitality industry.

Hospitality venues may operate Totalisator Agency Board (TAB) outlets for wagering on racing and sport events. They may also cover the full range of gaming activities, including operating gaming machines, table games, Keno and lotteries.

Men At Work Training & Assessment is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and as such, we are responsible for the quality of the training and assessment in compliance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015, and for the issuance of AQF certification documentation.

On Completion Participants are supplied with a Statement of Attainment once their coursework has been marked and the course is completed. They also receive an Interim Certificate which they take to a Service NSW centre which supplies Competency Card and photo services.
Cards typically take three weeks to arrive after attending a Service NSW centre. Delay can mean expiry of the Interim Certificate’s 90-day work period with the result a student cannot work in relevant roles. Participants are encouraged to attend a Service NSW centre as soon as they complete the course, as soon as possible after the course is completed.
