Control Traffic with a Stop Slow Bat

This qualification is aimed at producing employees who manage traffic through and/or past a roadwork site. Duties would include directing traffic with a stop/slow bat or similar control device in accordance with approved Traffic Management Plans.

To work as a Traffic Controller in NSW, it is a Safework NSW requirement that you hold a current Traffic Controller competency card.

Men At Work Training & Assessment is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and as such, we are responsible for the quality of the training and assessment in compliance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015, and for the issuance of AQF certification documentation.

Career Outcomes This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles within the Resources & Infrastructure Industries.
On Completion On completion of training, successful participants will be provided with a Statement of Completion that will act as an interim certificate to gain the required workplace experience to be eligible for assessment. After successful completion of your practical assessment, participants will then be provided with a Statement of Attainment and a Safework NSW Traffic Controller competency card.

  • Participants must be 17 years of age or over.
  • Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment is to be worn (this is not provided by Men At Work Training & Assessment). This includes steel capped boots, long pants, long sleeved shirt and wide brimmed hat and sunscreen. Hi-visibility vests will be provided.
  • Current Work Safely in the Construction Industry White Card
  • Current or previously held full driver’s licence.
